Student Extracurricular Enrichment Opportunities
Student Extracurricular Enrichment Opportunities (CLUBS) are available each quarter. These can be a variety of after-school activities that are planned by Westgate teachers and staff. From exploring a variety of art mediums to learning strategy with game play, or playing a sport, these club activities are made to be fun and engaging for our students and offer options for kids of all ages. Westgate often contracts with outside validated organizations for additional club offerings that you may have to register for individually.
- Students must be signed up before the registration deadline.
- Please note the age group of the club offering when registering.
- No late registration will be accepted.
- Please note that all students must be picked up by 5pm. Please be considerate in the appropriate travel time it takes to get your student(s) by the 5pm pick up time.
2024-25 Quarter 4 CLUBS
- Westgate Club registration will open on Friday, March 21st at 5pm.
- Registration closes on Friday, April 11th at 11:59pm
- Clubs will begin the week of April 14th through the week of May 23rd (unless otherwise noted by the club organization)
- Quarter 4 clubs will be running for 6 weeks!
Monday Clubs

Soccer Club | 2nd - 8th | $75 | Rosenblatt | Welcome to Soccer Club! Each week, students will learn and develop skills to become stronger soccer players. Sessions will build on each other, beginning with dribbling and culminating in an exciting game of students vs. parents/guardians/siblings. We will also focus on social-emotional skills like teamwork, putting in your best effort, perseverance, and self-confidence. Some soccer balls will be provided, but it is highly encouraged that students bring them as well. |
Basketball Club | 3rd - 8th | $70 | Papiernik | During this club, we will be outside playing basketball, as long as the weather permits. Students can bring their own basketballs, but I will be purchasing a few. |
Take-apart Club | 4th -12th | $85 | Elliott | Join the Take-Apart Club, where creativity meets hands-on exploration! In this club, we take apart small machines—like old radios, clocks, toys, and other gadgets—and dive into understanding how they work. Our goal? To put them back together and make them work like new! Whether you’re a budding engineer or just love discovering how things function, this club will spark your curiosity. No experience is needed, just a passion for tinkering and problem-solving! We’ll learn together, share ideas, and unleash our inner inventors in a fun, safe environment. Get ready to build, break, and rebuild in ways you never imagined! |

Anime Club | 5th-12th | $90 | McGinnis | Welcome to our Anime Club! This club is designed for students aged 7 to 13 who have a passion for anime. We carefully select age-appropriate shows that are both entertaining and suitable for this age group. Some of the anime we may watch include shows or features such as: My Neighbor Totoro Pokémon Naruto My Hero Academia In addition to enjoying these fantastic shows, we will provide pre-packaged, non-allergenic snacks to ensure everyone can safely enjoy their time with us. |
Family Garden Club |

Kahn | We are excited to announce a new opportunity for our school community – introducing the Quarter 4 Family Garden Club! This is a fantastic chance for families to connect, learn, and grow together while nurturing their green thumbs. What is the Family Garden Club? Our Family Garden Club will meet weekly on Tuesdays from 4:00-6:00pm during quarter 4. Each participating family will receive: - A garden plot to cultivate and care for. - A handmade personalized sign for your plot. - Seeds to start your garden journey - Weekly garden workshops where you’ll learn various gardening skills and techniques with Mrs. Kahn - And more!! Additionally, your family will get to keep the garden plot throughout the summer, allowing you to continue enjoying your garden and its produce beyond the weekly meetings. To help cover the costs of materials and water usage, there will be a $75 fee for each participating family. This fee will support the resources we provide and ensure a well-maintained garden space for everyone. Not only will you gain hands-on experience in gardening, but you’ll also have the chance to meet and bond with other families in our school community. It’s a wonderful way to spend quality time outdoors and share a common interest. |

Our Photography Club is the perfect place for you! In this club, you will: ✨ Learn the basics of photography (lighting, composition, and angles) 📷 Experiment with different types of photography (portrait, nature, action shots, and more!) 🎨 Get creative with editing and storytelling 🗺️ Go on fun photo walks and challenges Got a new fancy camera? Come learn how to use it! No fancy camera? No problem! You can use any camera you have or borrow a small one from me. Are you an avid writer? Do you long to write your own book someday? Join Creative Writing Club! This small community of writers will come together to support each other and engage in fun projects to get our creative juices flowing. We will write creative stories, going through the processes of worldbuilding, character creation, and plotting, play writing games, and write fun new types of poetry. Writers of any level are welcome, just be ready to write! (Snacks and notebooks will be provided).
Tentative Schedule: Session 1: The Writer's Toolbox Session 2: Worldbuilding Session 3: Character Creation Session 4: The Plot Thickens Session 5: Drafting Day Session 6: Poetry Palooza (or more drafting, if you'd prefer) We will end with a celebration of our writing and each share one of our favorite things we've written or learned.

Westgate Community School presents Westgate's Got Talent Show 2025 🎤✨
Get ready to be amazed! This May, Westgate Community School invites students and families to celebrate the incredible talents of our community. From Kindergarten to High School—and even some surprise teacher acts—this showcase will highlight the unique skills and creativity of our students.
Want to participate? Join our after school open call meeting on Wednesday, April 9th (after Spring Break) to run your act by Ms. V, Ms. Papiernik, and Ms. Quijano. Acts should be kept around 3 minutes or less and can be solo or group performances.
