Environmental Education

Committed to Education About the World Around Us

Westgate Community School dedicates a portion of each week to environmental education. We believe that it is important for students to understand how the environment affects our daily lives. Environmental education can also promote critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills. This is particularly important today, as students need to be able to evaluate the long-term impact of social, economic, and ecological policies.

We look to implement this in a variety of ways through animal and garden care, recycling programs, and waste reduction initiatives.

Key environmental educational opportunities at Westgate:
  • Outdoor classroom education spaces

  • No Homework days (to reduce paper waste)
  • Chicken Tending
