Important: Winter Break is Coming - BE SAFE During Drop Off and Pick Up - Please Read!

As we approach winter break, we understand that excitement is in the air and routines can become a bit hectic. However, it is crucial that we all prioritize safety during drop off and pick up times in the car line. Here are some important reminders to ensure our car line operates as safely and efficiently as possible:

  1. Follow Car Line Directions: Please adhere to the designated car line for your grade level. Have your hang tag or pickup number ready to keep the line moving smoothly.

  2. No Cell Phones: Refrain from using cell phones in the car line. They are a distraction and can compromise safety. Colorado has also recently passed a law regarding hand-held cell phone use in cars and can garner up to at $75 fine.

  3. Staff Parking LotDo not use the back parking lot for drop off or pick up. This area is reserved for staff only and is not safe for students to be walking in as they are not expected to be there. If you need to go into the school for any reason - park in the front parking lot area. Use the designated crossing areas for safety.

  4. Right Turn Only: When exiting the car line onto 126th Ave, please turn right. A left turn can hold up traffic and cause delays. Turn right first and drive up to Lafayette St.to turn right to head back to 120th or left to go up to 128th to get back to Washington. See the map provided.

  5. Car Line Efficiency: When everyone follows the car line procedures, it should take no longer than 15-20 minutes maximim to get through. Following the directions and rules helps ensure a quick and orderly process.

  6. Safe Drop Off Locations: Thornton PD has been notified about unsafe drop offs along Washington St and 126th Ave. Please use the Barnes & Noble parking lot or the parking lot near Peak Martial Arts for safe drop off locations. Students can then walk up Washington St or use the crosswalk at Washington St and 126th Ave to get to Westgate Community School.

We know it can be tempting to bend the rules as we get closer to break, but we ask for your cooperation to ensure the safety of every child at Westgate. Use this to remember these rules as we return in January too!  Thank you for your attention to these important safety measures.
