PSAT 10 for current 10th graders
- What
- PSAT 10 for current 10th graders
- When
- 4/14/2021, 8:00 AM – 11:50 AM
Why: The Preliminary SAT (PSAT) is a practice SAT. The PSAT includes the following sections: evidence-based reading, writing and language, and math. There is no essay offered for the PSAT. Though the PSAT is primarily for practice, it will help students understand the format and scoring in advance of the NMSQT (taken Fall 11th grade year) and the SAT (taken Spring 11th grade year) and the data also helps us understand our students’ readiness and progress in these academic content areas so that we can be responsive in our curriculum.
Time: Please arrive between 7:45am-7:50am for check in. We ask that you arrive at this time to avoid the busiest part of carline, ensuring a timely check in. Students will not be allowed entrance into the testing area after 8:15am.
What to bring: For the test itself, students only need to bring a mask, a light jacket, a water bottle and a few snacks (if desired during breaks). Students should still bring all items necessary for school (including a cold lunch), but those items will be kept in a separate, locked room during the test (including cell phones and smart watches).
Other things to consider on test day:
• ALL cell phones and smart devices will need to be kept out of the testing rooms. If a cell phone or watch or other device were to go off during the tests, it could invalidate all the tests. Students will not have access to their cell phones or smart watches until after all testing is completed.
• Students need to eat a full, healthy breakfast before coming to school. Any other beverages besides water will not be permitted by students in the testing rooms.
• We will provide pencils and calculators- no need to bring your own.
• Students will be required to wear a mask while they are in the building, which includes throughout testing. Students will maintain social distancing, and we will provide hand sanitizer and other hand washing opportunities.
