Week of November 18th

Hello,

Students have been researching about National Parks. They will be presenting their parks to the class this week.

Mrs. Lounsbury

Hello!

I hope you had a great 4-day weekend!
This week students will be using their knowledge of weathering, erosion, deposition, and soil to create a presentation on a national park and the formation of the landscapes in each park.

Week of September 23rd

Hello,

This week students will be presenting their tectonic plate natural disasters. Students have been researching Volcanos, Earthquakes, and Tsunamis.  They have made a presentation bout one disaster and will show it to the class.

No Perfume or Cologne or Spray

Hello,

We have had a recent uptake in students bringing sprayable smelling items like perfume, cologne, and other body spray items. This includes anything with a strong smell like hand sanitizer and lotion. Please keep these items at home. It is very hard to tell if the smells are allergen safe. The collections of spray are also starting to cause many students to have headaches. Please talk to your student about keeping these items home and not at school.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about this nor policy for my room.

Week of September 9th

Hello,

This week, students will be finishing up their Pangea puzzle group project. Students have been learning how scientists came to the conclusion of plate tectonic movement and continental drift.  Here is a video describing the Continental Drift Theory. https://youtu.be/mh5yu24DeQE?feature=shared

Week of September 3rd

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

This week in science we will continue to take notes about the structure of the Earth. Students will learn how different tectonic plates create different types of volcanoes.

Here is a video we will be watching on how volcanoes are formed.

Week of August 25th

Hello!

I hope you have a great weekend! We will continue to talk about the different way tectonic plates move. We are currently working on a lab that discusses how sea floor spreading shows that the continental plates are diverging.

Week of August 19th

Hello!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!  This week students will be learning about tectonic plates and how they move. They will also be learning about how the core helps create a convection zone that moves plates and shapes our land. Here is a video that talks about many of the concepts we will be covering this week.

Week of August 12th

Hello!

This week in science, students will begin taking notes in their science notebooks on the Layers of the Earth. We will be reviewing the crust, the mantle, the outer core, and the inner core. Students will graph the different temperatures of each layer and discuss the connection of temperature to its location in Earth.
