Hello families! We’ve had a great week in 2^nd grade! Here is what we will be learning in Social Studies the week of November 4th:

We will be continuing in Unit 3, which is about how communities utilize their resources including those in the environment. We will be talking about renewable resources as well as nonrenewable resources. We will discuss how culture and lifestyle impacts the environment.

Our focus in this unit:

• Solar and wind energy
• Fossil fuels
• Urban development
• Pollution
• Deforestation

BONUS: We will also spend time discussing the election and how elections work. We will touch on why voting is important and the impact it can have on communities as well as the world.

We will be dedicating to our projects. Students will identify an issue in the community and research ways to solve the problem. By the end of the week students will have created a poster to showcase their hard work on bettering the community.
