Freeland's Math Update Week of 9/9

Hello families! We have a had a great week in 2nd grade! Here is what we will be learning in math the week of September 9th:

This week  we will be starting Chapter 3 learning strategies to add and subtract within 100. I will be sending home the parent letter on Monday.

Our math focus this week:

  • Adding 10s and 1s on a number line
  • Using place value to add
  • Decomposing to add 10s and 1s
  • Using compensation to add

 

We have a great week learning ahead of us!

Hello families! We have a had a great week in 2nd grade! Here is what we will be learning in math the week of September 3rd:

This week  we will be wrapping up Chapter 2 which included strategies for adding and subtracting within 20.

Our math focus this week:

  • Getting 10 to subtract
  • Practicing addition and subtraction
  • Solving addition and subtraction word problems

Hello families! We have a had a great week in 2nd grade! Here is what we will be learning in math the week of August 26th:

This week we will be learning about adding three numbers, as well as making a 10 to add, counting on and back (for addition and subtraction), and relating addition to subtraction

Our math focus this week:

  • Adding three numbers
  • Make a 10 to add
  • Count on or back
  • Relate addition and subtraction
  • Get 10 to subtract

Freeland's Math Update Week of 8/19

Hello families! We have a had a great week in 2nd grade! Here is what we will be learning in math the week of August 19th:

At the beginning of the week, we will be wrapping up the chapter on arrays and odd and even numbers.

Starting on Wednesday, we will be learning about addition and adding in any order. We will also talk about using doubles when necessary and finishing the week adding three numbers.  I will be sending home the parent letter with more information, be on the lookout for it in their Friday folder.

  • Add three numbers

Freeland's Math Update Week of 8/12

Hello families! We have a had a great first week in 2nd grade! Here is what we will be learning in math the week of August 12th:

We will be taking the MAP math test on Wednesday August 14th

In this chapter we will be focusing on numbers and arrays. We will be learning about odd and even numbers as well as how to create equal groups. This will lead us into learning about repeated addition which is the base of multiplication. I will be sending home the parent letter with more information, be on the lookout for it in their Friday folder.
