General Enrollment and Lottery Information
Does Westgate participate in the Adams 12 Choice program?
No. Westgate does not participate in the Choice program, each charter school in Adams 12 has its own enrollment process so you will want to work with charter schools directly if you are interested in enrollment. If your current Westgate student would like to attend their boundary school in Adams 12, they will need to fill out the Choice application to be approved.
Does Westgate require a cognitive assessment or an Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) for entrance?
No. Westgate does not require any sort of testing or proof of GT identification. If a student has cognitive testing or a current ALP, we will collect that information during the enrollment process along with the other necessary paperwork and records.
How many seats do you have available in each grade level?
Each year, kindergarten and 9th grade will be filled to capacity with new applications. For all other grades, the number of seats will vary based on the number of current students not returning for the following year.
If one sibling is offered a seat in the lottery, are additional siblings automatically offered a seat?
No. If one sibling is offered a seat and that seat is accepted, any additional siblings will be moved to the sibling wait pool. Seat offers from the sibling wait pools will be offered first based on availability.
Do I need to fill out an application for each student or can I just fill one out for the family?
You will need to fill out a separate application for each student that is applying to Westgate. On each individual application, you will list the names of the additional students applying so the system can link them together as siblings.
How do I know if my student(s) received an offer?
You will receive an email and text message with the results of the lottery as soon as it is run in February. Please make sure that your SchoolMint settings are updated to receive text messages AND emails. Also check your spam folder to ensure that emails are not flagged as spam.
How long do I have to accept a seat offer?
You will have 5 days to accept/decline a seat offer or the seat will automatically decline. The seat will then be offered to another student in the wait pool.
What happens if my student is placed into the wait pool?
As seats become available the system will continue to send out seat offers. Available seats will be offered through September 10th. You can email [email protected] at any time to see how many students are in the grade appropriate wait pool.
What’s the difference between a wait pool and a waitlist?
Westgate has wait pools for each grade level vs. a numbered list. Seats are randomly picked by the system from the wait pool as seats become available. You can email [email protected] at any time to see how many students are in the grade appropriate wait pool.
What happens if I apply after the lottery has been run?
All applications received after Jan. 31st will be placed in the grade appropriate wait pools.
Do current students need to re-apply each year?
Current students do not need to re-apply each year unless they are in 8th grade and applying for our high school program. More information about our high school application can be found on the Enrollment page of the website. Current families will need to fill out the Intent to Return form every January to indicate that they are staying at Westgate. The form will be emailed directly to you.
