Dear Westgate Families,

 

As we welcome November, the theme for this month’s Advocacy is Gratitude. This is a time for all of us to reflect on the people and experiences that enrich our lives. Practicing gratitude helps us acknowledge the good around us, even in the midst of challenges, and it's a powerful way to support our mental and emotional well-being. Gratitude teaches our students—and all of us—the importance of recognizing what we have, fostering a more positive outlook and a deeper connection to each other and our community.

 

In the spirit of gratitude, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to each of you for your commitment to your children, to our school, and to our community. Westgate is a special place because of the dedication, support, and partnership of our families, and we are so grateful to have you with us on this journey.

 

I also want to take a moment to express my deep appreciation for our incredible teachers and staff. I truly believe they are the best in the world. They are dedicated not only to the academic success of our students but also to their social and emotional growth. Our teachers and staff are committed to Westgate’s mission, to each student’s development, and to being outstanding human beings. They bring heart, talent, and integrity to everything they do, and I am so grateful for their work each day.

In December, our Advocacy theme will shift to The Greater Good and Generosity. We will focus on what it means to contribute to something bigger than ourselves and why it's so important for students K-12 to practice generosity. I encourage you to consider ways your family can support the greater good—whether it’s in your own home, your neighborhood, or the wider world. Small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

 

Looking Ahead:
Applications for the 2025-26 school year open on December 1 and close on January 31.
Last day of school before Winter Break: Friday, December 20
Winter Break: December 23 - January 10
First day back to school after Winter Break: Monday, January 13, 2025
